An Intracranial Extradural Dermoid Cyst Presenting with Two Dermal Sinuses and an Abscess in a Child

چکیده
Dermoid cysts account for only a small fraction of intracranial masses, with extradural dermoid being considered much rarer entity than those located intradurally. Intracranial vary in clinical presentations: some maybe asymptomatic whilst others harbor features raised pressure, neurological deficits, or even aseptic meningitis. may also present cutaneous lesions. Herein, we report rare case 1-year-old female presenting midline, scalp abscess. Brain MRI revealed an intracranial, tumor, suggestive cyst, unusually the crista galli, and complicated by formation two sinus tracts. After identification characterization MRI, bitemporal craniotomy was performed complete excision mass Histological analysis confirmed cyst as final diagnosis. Postoperatively, patient recovered fully had no evidence recurrence subsequent visits. The mentioned above highlights rarity such presentation vitality early imaging midline lesions extensions avoidance detrimental consequences.

متن کاملTraumatic rupture of an intracranial dermoid cyst
Intracranial dermoid cysts are congenital tumors of ectodermal origin. Rupture of these cysts can occur spontaneously, but rupture in association with trauma is reported infrequently. The diagnosis of rupture is made by the presence of lipid (cholesterol) droplets in the subarachnoid spaces and ventricles. Nonenhanced CT of the head demonstrates multiple foci of low attenuation that correspond ...

I ntracranial dermoid cystic tumors account for <1% of all intracranial masses. Dermoids are nonneoplastic, congenital ectodermal inclusion cysts that contain varying amounts of ectoderm derivatives to include apocrine, sweat, and sebaceous cysts as well as hair follicles, squamous epithelium, and possibly teeth. Th ey are not to be confused with an epidermoid cyst, which contains only squamous...

Intradural dermoids are rare congenital tumors representing approximately 0.05% of all intracranial lesions. These benign tumors have a typical appearance on CT and MR due to their lipid components. The complication caused by rupture are the spillage of the fatty material into the cerebrospinal fluid. We report a case of a ruptured dermoid cyst showing fat/fluid levels in both side ventricles a...
